School Leadership

Katie Hardesty has dedicated her career to serving students, families, and educators through a passion for learning and a commitment to helping every child succeed. A Wisconsin native, Katie grew up in Greenfield and attended schools in the Whitnall School District. Her interest in education began early, working at YMCA summer day camps throughout high school and college, where she progressed from camp counselor to assistant camp director.

Katie earned her Bachelor of Science degree and teaching license from Carroll University and began her career with the Appleton Area School District in 2001. Over the years, she has served students in a variety of roles at Ferber Elementary, Classical School, Wilson Middle School, and Einstein Middle School. She later earned her Master of Arts degree from Marian University and now proudly serves as the Principal of Houdini Elementary School.

Since October 2017, Katie has served as the Principal of Houdini. She is committed to fostering a school culture where every student feels safe, valued, and challenged to reach their full potential. She believes that strong partnerships among families, staff, and the community are essential to student success and is passionate about creating a welcoming environment where all learners can thrive. 

Outside of school, Katie enjoys spending time with her family, running, reading, and traveling. She is honored to be part of the Houdini Elementary community and looks forward to partnering with families to make each school year a successful and memorable one.
